Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kalmukhanbet Kasymov sayd that are being preparations for the cultivation of cannabis for industrial and medical purposes. And goverment asks permission in UN for cultivation. He noted that industrial and medical production of cannabis is being raised in the country in the last 5-7 years.
Extensive amounts of cannabis grow wild in the country. The 2006 World Drug Report estimated that 400,000 hectares of cannabis grow wild in the Chui Valley.
Per Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, 93% of the nation's marijuana comes from Kazakhstan.
