Possession or transport of up to 6 grams (dry weight) of cannabis or 2 grams of hashish or hashish oil as of 0,4 grams with no sale intent is punishable by a fine in Russia, but nevertheless, possession is still illegal by law and it can be punished with fines up to 1,500 dollars and sometimes jail time. Penalties for possession between 7 and 20 grams varies between one to three years. No distinction between the recreational or medicinal use. Cultivation of less than 20 cannabis plants was decriminalized (punishable by fine) in 2010 while the plant itself remains illegal. Cannabis seeds contain no controlled substances and are not regulated.

At the end of the 19th century, cannabis cultivation for fiber was one of the main sources of revenue of the peasants of Orel, Kaluga, Kursk, Chernigov, Mogilev and partly Minsk provinces. According to the Imperial Russian Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary in the European part of Russia at the end of the 19th century, about 140 thousand tons of hemp were produced, which accounted for about 40% of the production of hemp in Europe.

In Russia, everything is so bad that the police can throw you a drug just like that, and you'll get 10 years in jail. And who is say "Decriminalized"!? Very criminalized! For the use of non-prescription give a few years in prison + forbidden to work in public positions.

In russia weed is totally illegal. U get 3-5 years for >1 gramm.
