Possession of "small amount" (up to 5 grams of cannabis) means a fine (up to UAH 850 or USD 33) under Administrative Code Possession of more then 5 grams can cause criminal offence, which could be punished by the fine as well (up to UAH 1700 or USD 66) or up to 3 years of incarceration. Cultivation for personal usage has been decriminalized since 2010. Illegal growing up to 9 plants may cause administrative fine, more then 10 plants will mean criminal offence if caught. Marchers in Kyiv call for legalization of cannabis
About 300 to 400 activists gathered in central Kyiv on Oct. 28 for the March of Freedom rally to call for the legalization of the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes. The marchers wanted the government to change a Health Ministry order that criminalized the possession of five or more grams of marijuana, even if it is for personal use.
